Maha Satsangs are occasions to conduct satsangs in a grand way to attract more people who are not connected with regular satsangs should come and be part of the spiritual festival. The idea started during 2009 when Birth Centenary of Shree Ganapatrao Maharaj was planned in Shantikuteer. It was decided amongs satsang groups to get together and celebrate a bigger satsangs where lot of disciples gather and get a precursor to the grand Saptah.
So each satsang group scheduled their own Mahasatsangs in Pune, Hubli, Mumbai, Arjanal, Bardol, Sangali, Karad, Vijaypur, Bengaluru etc. Usual satsangs are conducted in disciples houses and the routine followed was limited to Reading of Sulabh Atmajnan, Bhajans and aratis. But Maha Satsngs were planned to invite dignitaries and have spiritual discussions, dialogues with them. In some cities musical programs were conducted at length. Pad pooja (Washing of Gurus Feet), Nagar / Gram Sankeertan where procession of Paduka / Pallakki were also included to draw attention.
Since 2009 at every 5 year intervals Maha Satsangs are conducted at Vijaypur, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, While in Hubli Gurubandhus do Mahasatsang every two years.
